Maria's World

Maria is this fantastic Architect.  She and her husband, Zoran, are a couple of the most interesting people I've ever known.  It was at Maria and Zoran's house on the island of Koufonessi which, I'm now told, is one of two islands called Koufonissia, that we went for that great time described in "My Life In A Movie", a previous blog.  I am indeed blessed to have been present at such an event with real Greek people having their own good time.  Something one just can't get in a package tour!!  As you look through these pictures, bear in mind Thunder Kitties, that in addition to Maria's beautifully designed house, there are three other houses just below Maria's that are joined together and waiting for us to rent!  A trip like that would be well worth the money if only to bathe in any one of the Maria-designed bathrooms!  I'm sure she'll take exception to my saying so but, to me, Maria is the Queen Architect of bathrooms.  I can only describe them as sexy and emotionally satisfying.  Each house has a master bedroom where the enormous bed is sculpted of stone with a huge stone backboard.  The backboard has niches for candles and behind the backboard, which separates the room into two parts,  is the shower and sink with a smaller room for the WC all of which is merged into the hand-smoothed stucco stone.  I've probably got this all wrong but suffice it to say; we've never seen anything quite like this.  I couldn't slow the party down by photographing everything but here are some pictures from Koufonissi.

 Zorba? Is that you?

 Is this a rock group?

Ioanna and Sparti making Horta for dinner.

Michael.  He was supposed to be my roomate but couldn't take the snoring.  Michael's British and a really cool guy.  He's doing all the gardens which are gorgeous.

 Salmon steaks!

Yanni...an old friend from last time

Zorba?  This fellow did not budge as we all stepped over him.

 Finally, the cows came home
